Walk-Ins & Urgent Care

Walk-Ins & Urgent Care

At South Meadow Animal Clinic, we understand that no one plans for their pet to get sick, but emergencies can happen and sometimes sick or injured pets require urgent care. When your pet is under the weather and in need of veterinary attention, we can help you determine whether your pet needs to be seen right away or whether they can wait for a regularly scheduled appointment.

What to Do If Your Pet Is Having an Emergency

We understand how stressful it can be to have a sick or injured pet, and we’ll be here for you with walk-in appointments plus emergency care available during our regular business hours.

During Business Hours

If your pet is having an emergency during business hours, contact us immediately at 817-370-5566 and bring your pet in. We always welcome walk-in appointments during business hours. Let us know you’re on your way, so we’ll be ready when you arrive and we’ll also provide you with over-the-phone instructions to stabilize your pet for transport to our veterinary clinic.

After-Hours Emergencies

For after-hours emergencies, contact 817-263-2900. After hours, we refer emergency patients to the Fort Worth Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital.

How to Recognize a Pet Emergency

Sometimes it’s difficult to determine whether a sick pet is having a medical emergency or if care can wait. If your pet exhibits any of the following signs or symptoms, we recommend seeking veterinary care as soon as possible:

Sick Pet Visits with Our Fort Worth Veterinarian

Whether your pet is having an emergency or visiting us for a more routine sick pet appointment, your pet’s exam will begin the same way. We’ll first assess your pet’s condition and provide any necessary treatments to stabilize your pet’s health and relieve pain.
When our patient is comfortable and stable, we’ll perform a thorough physical examination, which might include diagnostic tests, to determine the underlying cause of your pet’s illness or the extent of the pet’s injury. When our veterinarian has reached an accurate diagnosis, we’ll discuss your pet’s treatment options with you to determine the best course of action.
